CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF IMPACT

This year, we stand in awe of God’s faithfulness as we celebrate 30 years of ministry—a legacy of lives transformed, prayers answered, and dreams nurtured into reality. It’s a time to reflect on how far the Lord has brought us, to honor the seeds sown in the soil of faith, and to look ahead with hearts full of hope for the harvest still to come.

Today, we are unveiling a Tree of Legacy, a beautiful representation of these past three decades. Each month, we will feature different branches (aka foundational years) here and in our newsletters, sharing the stories, milestones, and testimonies that have defined this ministry. Make sure to visit this page and follow our journey.

Today, we will begin by honoring the Foundational Years (1995–2000)—those first steps of obedience that set the course for the impact we celebrate today. It all began on December 5th, 1994. I arrived in the United States with $100 and 100 words of English and a dream that seemed impossible to achieve. In January 1995, I enrolled at Victory Bible College, and by May of that year, through the service agency of Greater New Life Church in Altoona, KS (now Verdigris Valley Christian Fellowship), I founded my nonprofit organization: Ceitci Demirkova Ministries, which later expanded to include the name Changing a Generation in 2008.

The first five years were about planting, trusting, and clinging to the vision God had placed in my heart. Pastor Tommy Barnett’s words, “If you can hold on to the vision for the first five years, that vision will hold on to you for the rest of your life,” urged me to press on through uncertainty and fear. With the little I had, I set aside $1 from my $100 to sponsor an orphaned child in Bulgaria. It wasn’t much, but it was a start. I raised funds by selling t-shirts and small items from Bulgaria, meeting people at churches, gas stations, or even Walmart, and adding their names to a growing mailing list. God was weaving a network of support that would one day grow far beyond what I could imagine. After graduating from three programs at Victory Bible College in 1998, I returned to Bulgaria at the end of that year. All of 1999 was spent working with local churches, ministering to children, and building relationships. I also had the opportunity to minister in Holland and Sweden, broadening the reach of the mission and laying the groundwork for the transformation we would later witness.

As we mark 30 years of ministry, we are thrilled to host a special celebration in Tulsa, OK on November 8th. This event will feature a red carpet, live performances, and videos that honor the journey we’ve traveled together. It will also be a deeply personal milestone as I celebrate my 50th birthday—a year of Jubilee —a time to praise God for His faithfulness. Additional celebrations are being planned for Seattle, WA, and Orange County, CA this summer and we’ll share more details soon.

To each of you who have walked this journey with us—thank you. Whether you joined us in the early days or came alongside us more recently, your prayers, support, and faithfulness have been the bedrock of this ministry! This month, we celebrate not only a legacy of impact but also the unchanging, unfailing love of Christ, who makes it all possible.

WHAT OUR PARTNERS ARE SAYING ABOUT OUR NON-PROFIT

Our paths first crossed with Ceitci in 1996 when we were newly married in Seattle, WA. We were immediately struck by her heartfelt gratitude for the transformation Jesus had brought into her life and her passionate desire to share it with everyone she met. As our friendship with her grew and Changing a Generation was established, we recognized the incredible impact of this ministry and knew we wanted to support it monthly. Today, hope is being poured into the lives of countless children and orphans from Bulgaria, Uganda, and Ghana because of the work God began in Ceitci’s heart many years ago. We are deeply honored to partner with this life-changing ministry.

We are thrilled to help serve Ceitci Demirkova Ministries and the Hope Campaign through our giving to reach and work with underprivileged children and orphans in the most impoverished areas of Bulgaria.  God tells us that children are a blessing and a gift!  We wanted to help these children reach beyond their circumstances and experience the love of Jesus to help them enjoy their childhood, create a biblical foundation for personal growth, and gain confidence that they can achieve anything.

We have supported Changing a Generation because, over the years, we have seen through this ministry real people, with hearts for the things of God, reaching out to children and their families, planting seeds of hope in hearts. This is done very practically through children’s programs sharing Jesus' truth and love; provision of school supplies, clothing, food and other needs; playgrounds and Christmas gifts that make children realize they are special to us and to God.  We believe in the vision that God has given Ceitci and her team for Bulgaria.

Back in the late ‘90s, when Ceitci first came to America, I briefly met her at a midweek fellowship in the Aloha House Apartments on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle, WA. I never could have imagined how our lives would later connect.

In 2015, I reconnected with her at the 20-year celebration in Renton, WA, invited by our mutual friends from Aloha. That night, as she spoke, I was deeply moved—it was undeniable that the Lord had called her for this work. I felt prompted to start a monthly sponsorship, doubling the amount I initially had in mind. It stretched my faith, but it has been a blessing ever since.

Ceitci’s passion for rescuing children and providing education opened my eyes to the harsh reality of human trafficking—not just globally but right here in Washington State. In 2016, she happened to stay and speak at a home just two doors down from where I once lived in Wenatchee, WA—a clear God-appointed connection.

In 2018, at the God Plus Nothing conference in Wenatchee, WA, her message reignited my faith during a season of deep struggle. Ceitci is a remarkable woman of God whose confidence in Him and love for others shine so brightly. I am forever grateful for her impact on my life and honored to partner with her and her ministry, Changing a Generation, making a lasting difference in the lives of children in Bulgaria and Africa.

We first met Ceitci in 1999.  Her evangelistic fervor was evident even then; she was obviously a woman on a mission.  It has be a joy and a wonder to observe how that vision has been re-defined and honed; through her speaking engagements, writing, interviews, influence on nations, and personal ministry - not to mention the launching of ministries that serve needs around the globe.  So blessed to come along on this journey; and we know there’s more to come.

“I had to sit down and read "Exposed to Hope" as soon as it arrived in the mail.
It is wonderful to learn about the opportunities these Bulgarian children and young adults have to learn and grow in Jesus. The testimonies of many are truly heartwarming. Your heart will go out to these children who can now experience hope in the midst of the most challenging of situations.”

“I had a wake up call when I found Changing a Generation. As a typical American, I was pretty uninvolved in the needs of children in other countries. I thought globally, but acted locally and gave locally. The “Exposed to Hope” book is a front seat view of the valuable work to help kids in Bulgaria.  I’m proud to say now I sponsor a neighborhood. Ceitci and team, keep up the great work.”

“I thoroughly enjoyed reading the new book, Exposed to Hope. The stories of the children are heartwarming and the impact of Changing a Generation’s ministry is remarkable. This is truly a book of hope that shares the love of Jesus in a tangible way!”

“Nearly 15 years ago, my eyes were opened to the vast needs of children around the world and how Changing a Generation was bringing transformation and solution to these very needs.  I have partnered ever since, and am continually impacted by the miraculous stories birthed through the work that Ceitci and her team do on a daily basis. Every book Ceitci has written sheds further light on truth and transformation, and this recent book does the same through the stories of the kids she and her organization impacts.  It is beautiful, inspiring and a must-read for anyone who is an advocate for hope, change and transformation in this complex world we live in.  YOU WILL LOVE IT and be greatly inspired.”

As my daughters and I are reading these beautifully written stories depicting the lives of physically, emotionally, and spiritually deprived children of broken families in Bulgaria, it has opened a pathway for conversation and has really placed life and reality into perspective. Our hearts break and ache for these hurting children whom need all the prayer, love, compassion, and support they can get. It stirs the heart into action to offer a better world to even “the least of these,” as each and every one of us can help introduce them to the Savior and Father whom will never leave nor forsake them.”

EXPOSED TO HOPE: The Cry and Fortitude of Bulgarian Children Finding Hope in the Shadows of Brokenness and Fear

Our “Exposed to Hope” book is a beautiful compilation of true stories, pictures, poems and prayers for the children of Bulgaria. It’s a perfect reflection of the work we have done over the past 28 years of ministry.

Each purchased copy of the book will help us provide a sponsorship for the children from our programs. In return, it makes for a beautiful gift that you can give away to friends and loved ones!
