It is known for the rich history and large number of historical monuments, such as 17th- and 18th-century churches and examples of Bulgarian National Revival architecture, which have turned it into a popular tourist destination.

Come and explore with us Etura: This Architectural and Ethnographic Complex is an open air museum with an operative display/lay-out that is unique both in Bulgaria and the whole Southeastern Europe. It is situated 8 km south of the center of Gabrovo city. Its construction began in 1963 with the purpose of exhibiting most artifacts by craftsmen around this region, during the period of the Bulgarian revival. It has been under construction for 13 years. The museum offers a retrospection and an introduction with the customs and traditions of the Bulgarian people. The mechanisms in the workshops and mills are only water-driven by а river called Sivek, which does not freeze in the winter. Using original instruments and following the old traditions locals represent around 20 characteristic of the region crafts such as wood-carving, pottery, coppersmith, furriery, cutlery, tailoring etc.

Come and virtually explore with us The Shipka Monument. The Liberty Memorial is the symbol of modern Bulgaria and the liberation of Bulgaria. The monument is the heart of the Shipka National Park-Museum and is located on Shipka Peak. Its outline resembles a medieval Bulgarian fortress and can be seen from dozens of kilometres. It was built with donations from the people from all over Bulgaria and was inaugurated on 26 August 1934. It is 31.5 m tall and 890 steps lead up to it. The powerful bronze lion, symbolizing the coat of arms of Bulgaria – the symbol of the Bulgarian state – guards the entrance to the Memorial. The other three walls of the monument bear the names Shipka, Sheynovo, and Stara Zahora – the battlefields in defense of the Pass. On the ground floor under a marble sarcophagus, rest the remains of Shipka's defenders.
